- BI/BPM - A market in flux - what does this mean to you?
-

1st June 2010
It is an engaging time in the Business Intelligence marketplace with the PWC acquisition of Paragon Consulting and Deloitte buying ReportSource. But what does this mean for the BI/BPM/CPM/EPM (whatever acronym you choose) Market?
GO BACK
There has been a lot of movement of late, with the Business Intelligence and Business Performance Management skill set more in demand than ever.
IBM have a new GBS Practice, Business Analytics and Optimization, which is their first new service line for 32 years and is being touted as equivalent in importance to the PWC acquisition in 2002 (forming IBM Global Business Services) and the first IBM PC back in the 1980's. Clarity Systems have been recording their best year to date, with the final quarter of 2009 being their best as well. Partake Consulting, a leading European BI/BPM player, are looking to enter into the UK market in 2010 and are aided by the boast that every one of their projects is "referenceable". Hitachi Consulting, KPMG and E&Y are all looking to build significant BI/BPM practices and the specialist players like Amosca are still going strong.
So what does this mean for the BI/BPM community?
The results are similar in effect to Oracle's acquisition of Hyperion, which preceded a sustained period of investment in BI/BPM (IBM acquiring Cognos and SAP buying BOBJ and Cartesis et al), and the ensuing melee is ensuring that there is even more Opportunity and demand in the BI/BPM/EPM/CPM market for skilled professionals with real world deployment experience.
And that's where Cognitive's BI/BPM Practice comes in..... Whether you're looking to hire a team of BI/BPM professionals or if you're looking for your next career move, then I want to hear from you:
