Below is a snapshot analysis of the growth of the Microsoft skills market over the last 12 months. We have specifically looked at Azure, Dynamics and Power Platform. Where do you stand? See the results below.
What does the future look like?
Although the number of people registered with power platform skills is relatively low, there has been a massive 227% growth in skills in this area over the past 12 months, and Microsoft seems to have a strong focus on this technology at the moment. Consequently, we are seeing many consultancies building and investing in dedicated business areas for this function. So, it's likely that over the next 12 months we will see a huge increase in the utilisation of this technology.
Indeed, with this platform enabling businesses to build applications quickly, and easily automate their processes, they now have the freedom to manage and maintain specific business requirements internally. Additionally, as the power platform connects seamlessly with the 365 suite, those already using Microsoft 365 and Azure, are more likely to choose D365 and the Power Platform for business operations in the future.
On the flip side, Dynamics growth is slowing, with some of the fastest growing titles amongst this talent base being in BI and Analytics. Again, suggesting a market shift towards a more holistic technological approach.
What does this mean for talent?
Power Platform skills are clearly going to be in demand, but initially at least, those with power platform knowledge plus technology specific experience such as Dynamics CE or F&O will be highly sort after. Indeed, traditional CRM or ERP experience is likely to fade out as organisations utilise the full business suite. Solution Architecture will still be an essential role, however, we may start to see a trend of organisations looking for Enterprise Architect’s that have knowledge of the entire Microsoft stack, as opposed to hiring multiple people in each vertical.
